Varies: Many people wear dentures and have absolutely no problems eating and speaking. Others cannot tolerate them and are constantly suffering. The key to success is a good fit and proper vertical dimension. After that, if you still have problems adjusting, then dental implants may be your answer for comfort.

Life with dentures: Life with dentures is really quite different for every patient. It is important to have realistic expectations about this treatment. It will take time to learn to function with dentures for example speaking and eating but for most patients this happens quite quickly usually about 2 weeks. Patients that require dentures usuall have been missing or beenfunctioning on poor teeth so dentures improve.

Terrible over time: Losing your teeth is like losing any other body part. At best you will have a decrease of 80% of your ability to function (ie. Laugh, smile, eat, kiss and speak with confidence). Then it only gets worst as you age. Less than 25% of denture wearer over 80 function comfortably. Try and keep your teeth if you can, if not consider dental implant to prevent jaw bone shrinkage.
