Surgery: The only viable treatment for gallstones is removal of the gallbladder. However, if your gallstones are not causing problems a person could go their whole lives without surgery. You should know that if a gallstone gets "stuck" at the place where the gallbladder drains it can cause severe pain and gallbladder infection. At that point surgery is usually required. Best to check with your doctor.

Good alternatives: The standard treatment for gallstones is removing the gallbladder;i believe this should be the last resort rather than initial treatment.I've had many patients have great success with natural therapies to dissolve gallstones ; flush them out of the liver/gallbladder.See http://www.Townsendletter.Com/july2011/momiracles0711.Html ; the amazing liver and gallbladder flush by andreas moritz ; comment:.
