They are similar: Both are autoimmune diseases and to varying degree, they have overlapping symptoms. Patients with lupus can have symptoms of sjogrens and vice versa. Both can lead to very serious, life threatening disease. More often, however, they are relatively well managed. In summary, severe lupus is probably worse than severe sjogrens, but there are exceptions.
