They: Sjogren's is in some ways a milder disease but it can have significant organ involvement. Sjogrens's typically affects the moisture glands in your body causing dryness, whereas lupus does not. Sometimes they can coexist together. Lupus can have significant organ involement compared to sjogren's and often is worse than sjogrens in terms of organ involvement.

They are similar: Both are autoimmune diseases and to varying degree, they have overlapping symptoms. Patients with lupus can have symptoms of sjogrens and vice versa. Both can lead to very serious, life threatening disease. More often, however, they are relatively well managed. In summary, severe lupus is probably worse than severe sjogrens, but there are exceptions.
