A member asked:

What can you do to take care of type 1 diabetes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insulin: Only Insulin treats type 1 dm. There's a lot involved in terms of learning to check blood sugars, diet management, ways to take insulin, and other education. A diabetes center would offer the best overall education and comprehensive care. Many internists and family practice doctors also manage diabetes though aren't usually part of a diabetes center. Pediatric endocrinologists treat type 1 in kids.
