Many issues: Decreased platelet counts reflect one of two possibilities.They are either not being made in sufficient quantities or they are being broken down/used to excess.Bone marrow invasion by abnormal cells can cut production, auto-antibodies triggered by infection or increased destruction during blood poisoning also occurs.Many tests will sort out a cause.
