Are people born lactose intolerant? can it also be developed later in life?

Later in life: Usually later in life. Lactose is the primary sugar in breast milk, and survival of an infant would depend on the ability to absorb milk sugar and its calories. As you get older, you lose the enzyme and the ability to absorb milk sugar.
