Use tools such as: Floss threaders and superfloss are excellent tools for cleaning under dental bridges that replace missing teeth. If you do not have the dexterity to use these tools, then a waterpik may also help to flush out debris. It is very important to keep the bridge clean to avoid bacteria from invading around bridgethe adjacent teeth and gums.

You can't: Properly designed permanent teeth are just like natural teeth. They will get food caught . It's important that you brush properly and floss regularly to keep everything clean, fresh and healthy. Good luck and be well.

Should not be to muc: I know it is very uncomfortable to have food or debris under a bridge, but if we make it tighter, probably less food be collected, but the amount of bacteria will be the same or more since you are not able to clean it. Is more important how much food you are not able to clean, than how much is inside that you are removing. Ask your dentist to close it as much as possible.

Water: Add a bit of water to each bite to make it easier to swallow everything and let the muscles of your cheeks and tongue help clear all the food. If the bridge needs to be remade, look into that, too.

You can't: Because the bridgework rest on the gums there will always be some kind of space. You need to perform regular hygiene under the bridge with a special floss called superfluous to keep the underside of the bridge clean. Otherwise a odor will develop from food debris stuck under it and will possibly cause decay issues for the supporting teeth.

Bridge food: Bridge work will always have some food trapping under. The older the bridge is, the more it will collect. Mainly because of bone loss due to missing tooth resorption. Water pik, threaders, "super floss" and proxabrushes can help. If if becomes unbearable, bridge replacement is an option. If you are going to replace it, consider dental implants, it will prevent bone loss, minimizing the food problm.

Floss: Food will collect under the bridge therefore it is imperative to use superfloss or floss threaders to clean under the bridge after each meal. Failing to do so will result in gum irritation and could cause both tooth loss as well as the loss of the bridge.

Food impaction: You cannot prevent food from becoming impacted under bridge, so you must therefore be aggressive at removing the debris before it does damage to the supporting teeth and gum/bone tissues. Discuss correct use of floss, WaterPik, ProxiBrush with your Dentist.
