Yes: It sounds like you do have a medical condition (menorrhagia is the condition of excessively heavy menses; and dysmenorrhea is the medical term for very painful menses). An evaluation usually includes an exam, some lab testing for thyroid conditions, anemia, and sometimes other hormones and a sonogram. There are many treatments for these conditions.
