Be honest : I would always recommend being as forthright as possible with children. That being said, if you are talking about duchenne md, i think the extent of communication depends upon the age of the child. If young, explain that their sibling will get weaker over time and will eventually need a wheelchair. The end-stage conversation is probably better for kids that are older than 8.
