Tick bite: It's recently been identified that persons who had a certain tick bite can then become allergic to red meats and suffer a food induced anaphylactic (severe allergic) reaction. The antibodies are identified as alpha-gal and these can be measured in the lab. I don't believe this has anything to do with heat sensitivity however.

Alpha Gal: There is an entity of new "beef allergy" that is caused by the bite of the lone star tick. The allergy is to the beef protein called "alpha-gal." within 6 hours of eating beef pork or lamb, the person had a severe allergic reaction tht can have hives or neck swelling. If you have been bitten by a north star tick and have a consistent allergy to beef, see an allergist.
