Nurse practitioner?: There are multiple variations of ear infections that even well trained physicians have difficulty differentiating them. Also, what some patients think are ear infections prove to be earwax impactions or non-infectious fluid behind the eardrum. So, it would be extremely difficult for you to self diagnose an ear infection without specific training. Perhaps a nurse practitioner could help you.
