A couple of days: It usually resolves quickly with a local steroid injection. If it perists, it may be secondary to low back issues and not a true bursitis.

4to 6 weeks: Hip bursitis can take as long as 4 to 6 weeks to resolve completely with rest, antinflammotory meds and physical therapy with stretching exercises.Some patients may require steroid injection and rarely some may need aspiration and steroid injection.
