3-6 months: The recovery from tka takes several months. The most rapid recovery is in the 1st 6 weeks, when patients are about 75-80% recovered. They will experience pain and stiffness, with difficulty sleeping for up to 2-3 months, with a gradual return of function and energy over that time frame. Soft tissue healing will continue for 3-6 months and the knee will gradually improve.

3 months: It takes about 6 weeks to feel better than you did before surgery when walking and 3 months to return to all normal activities. I tell patients that it will be a year before you reach maximal improvement.
