Hard work.: A tka requires a dedication to follow the postop therapy. Usually, pts are in the hospital for 3-4 days, and either go home for outpt therapy, or go to rehab for several weeks for in-house pt. Most patients are allowed to wt bear immediately, and will usually use a walker or cane for the first 6 wks. She should make sure to discuss her post-op course with her surgeon.
