Aprox. 3 months: Most knee replacement patients are up and walking in physical therapy the day after the surgery. The skim heals in about 10-14 days. The underlying tissue (capsule and ligaments etc.) take about 6 weeks to heal. Regaining full muscle strength with physical therapy usually take 2-4 months. The majority of the heaking has been acheived by that time, with minor improves taking up to a full year.

Varies: It varies quite a bit from patient to patient, but most patients who have a knee replacement are doing real well by 8-12 weeks. Thank you for the question.
