Balance fight : The best way to deal with chronic pain in my opinion is to not let it overtake you. Pain is a perception we have some degree of control over. If all has been tried & failed, don't take it as an ending battle. Its unhealthy to constantly fight it if you have to live with it. Myriads of alternative therapies are available. Take pain medications not to feed the pain, but to help you manage the pain.

Diagnosis: Dealing with chronic pain is like any medical problem. You start with a doctor who understands the type of medical problem you have, & he/she performs what is called a differential diagnosis. Once the best diagnosis has been reached, the doctor chooses a therapy for which there has been developed evidence for efficacy. On quora.Com (free), I have a board of posts about chronic pain.
