Heavy duty Rx: Acne on the trunk almost always requires systemic treatment. A simple antibiotic like tetracycline 500 2x/day plus topical benzoyl peroxide may be enough, or you might finally decide to make a trial of isotretinoin. The scars cannot be removed by any means, but a dermatologist can make them less conspicuous using a laser, surgery, dermabrasion, and/or a filler.

No such thing: I see you are a 23 year old woman. I'm sorry your acne was neglected when you were a teenager, producing scars. All the "pop" remedies for scars you find on the internet are phony. The actual depressed scars can be managed by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon using fillers, laser and/or microsurgery. Please try to lose weight and have a competent physician rx the acne you presently have.

Healing scars: When our bodies sustain an injury, the immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling). This is the body increasing the blood flow and bringing healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. As healing occurs, new tissues fill in that are different than normal and less elastic. This is a scar. Over time it will fade in color but always be there.

Treat the acne first: I think the best way to address people with both acne and scarring is to first get the acne under control. There are many options, and i would discuss them with a dermatologist. Many of my patients believe they have scarring, but in reality they have red marks left from previous acne which will go away once the acne is treated. If you have true scarring, other options are available.
