Ultrasound: If an ovarian tumor is suspected, then imaging studies (such as ultrasonography) may be conducted. This will give "pictures" of the ovaries and other adjacent organs and can help to decide if a mass is cystic or solid. In some instances, certain proteins can be measured in the blood, and if elevated, these markers may suggest certain types of tumors. Hope that this helps.
