Bipolar disorder: Bipolar disorder is a psychiatric condition characterized by mood alteration with ups and downs, alternating along time. There are different types of bipolar disorders, and the diagnosis requires an exhaustive history taking, prior trials of medications, and observation along time. Classically the person with bipolar disorder would be depressed, and out of the blue, feels excited, happy, no sleepi.

To REALLY know: If you have bipolar disorder, talk to a psychiatrist or psychologist. A diagnosis requires a good history & evaluation of your symptoms. Symptoms include manic or hypomanic episodes (abnormally elevated mood & energy) and sometimes depressive episodes.
