Skin tag removal: In our clinic we remove skin tags by surgical excision with sterilized gradle scissors. We have had patients try to remove skin tags by tying a string around them but they became secondarily infected. If you can sterilize scissors, you can remove skin tags but there will be pain and possible infection if you do not use sterilized equipment. There is no over the counter treatment for skin tags.

Unfortunately, no.: Skin tags can easily be removed by your physician. I recommend electrocautery as it is quick and effective. Most skin tags become larger with time; have them removed while still small for less discomfort during procedure.

See Your Doctor: Go and see your doctor, usually after a little numbing medicine is applied, they can be painlessly cut off in the office.
