Lower uric acid: Gout is nearly always curable with medications which lower uric acid. They need to be prescribed carefully in order to prevent flares while starting. Ask your doctor about these medications once you have been diagnosed with gout and are having frequent flares. Medications usually need to be continued long term or gout will come back.
