Untreatable/Fake: Myth: people with panic disorder sometimes believe that they are so crazy they cannot be treated. Truth: there are lots of effective treatments for panic disorder. Myth: people with panic disorder are "faking it". Truth: the symptoms and feelings of a panic attack are very real, there is no way to fake it.
