A member asked:

How often do mirana iud strings get lost, and how do i know if i'm missing a period or pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Isn't terribly common but it happens. Your provider can order an ultrasound to verify the iud is in the uterus. If they can not see the strings you will most likely need a hysteroscopy (small camera inserted into the uterus) to remove it. A simple urine pregnancy test can rule out pregnancy.
