A member asked:

What are some signs of dehydration and what can you do to prevent and treat it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dehydration: It depends on the age. Infants will have symptoms of fluid loss in the form of vomiting and diarrhea along with poor intake. They will be less active or playful, irritable or when severe sleepy or lethargic. Decreased urine output is universal across all ages (dka is an exception; see answers on dka). Other signs are sunken soft spot in infants, and decreased or absent tears, dry mucous membranes.
