A leading one!: Many important functions are carried out by our bodies during sleep. Necessary biochemicals are replenished for all of our systems. Along with water, air and food - sleep is essential to staying alive. The signals we get when we are even mildly sleep deprived in our moods and general functioning are indications to us of the need to get enough sleep soon. Pleasant dreams!
