Minor pain & redness: The new rabies vaccines is well tolerated. Most don't have any reaction, but some get minor symptoms such as redness, soreness, swelling, headache etc. Very rarely more moderate problems can develop such as hives and joint pain. The vaccine is recommended for children who are traveling to countries where rabies is common or those who have been bitten by a potentially rabid animal.
