Depends: Acl reconstructions vary a great deal. The majority of my patients can walk without crutches within a week. I let my patients walk out from surgery if they are able. It depends not only on the method and techniques involved, but also on the amount of quadriceps muscle weakness before surgery. Much of the rehab after surgery involves reactivating those muscles.
