Cosmetic dentistry: I think you should havea smile evaluation. Without seeing why you think you have untractive teeth it is impossible to say what dentistry you need. It could require braces, gum surgery. Crowns, jaw surgery, or all of the above.

Yes: I know the image is cosmetic dentistry being "hollywood smiles" that cost a lot. Of course i don't know what you have and it could cost a lot but at least get an evaluation to see options and you might be surprised that it may not be as expensive as you thought. Nothing in healthcare is cheap but you never know until you get evaluated.

Many options: Consider cosmetic treatment options from orthodontics to veneers, to crowns, etc. But always ask for the most minimally invasive approach/ most conservative.

Diagnose than treat: Before going down the road to create the smile of your dreams, you and your restoring dentist need to establish what it is you find unattractive. Once that is determined, there are a multitude of imaging and modeling tools that will allow you to try your new smile before you even start definitive care. Sometimes even procedures like Botox and dermal fillers are needed to create your new smile.

Yes: See a cosmetic dentist for an evaluation. However, most general or family dentist do consider themselves a cosmetic dentist. It is more important to look at their work (before and after pics of patients) and talk to patients (friends or family) who have been treated by the dentist.

Yes : 'going ' for cosmetic dentistry can take on many facets of dentistry. You need to find someone who understands the complexity of your case, and is able to present you with more than one treatment option. Find someone who has enough continuing education to help you . An agd or aacd dentist is a good place to start.

Cosmetic dentistry: Chances are your general dentist can do everything you need. "Cosmetic dentist" is just an ad slogan placed out there by general dentists to try to attract patients for cosmetic procedures. It doesn't mean that these dentists are any more or less training in cosmetic dental procedures. Ask your dentist first and if they can't help you then maybe they can offer a referral.

Yes: Any procedure to give you an attractive smile is considered cosmetic dentistry. This could include teeth whitening, direct or indirect veneers and/or orthodontics. Not everyone is born with an attractive smile but everyone deserves one. Look for a dentist with more advanced training in cosmetic dental procedures and accredited by cosmetic societies like ASDA or AACD
