A 46-year-old member asked:
do more teenagers smoke cigarettes and pot now?

Fewer: Teens are wising up about tobacco and fewer are taking it up, percentage-wise, than in the old days. Cannabis is mainstream in much of the world and this isn't the place to debate the wisdom of the laws; there are no reliable numbers concerning its historic use. Why do you ask?

Depends on which: part of the country you live in. In Washington State, our county has had a stable teen smoking rate of about 7% if not decreasing slightly. It is still unclear about e-cigarettes. Anywhere from 7-19% of kids have use marijuana in the past month. This is increasing slightly when comparing to 2006.

A 37-year-old member asked:
What time to average teenagers wake up in the morning?

Dr. Michael Amsteranswered

6-7am: Most teenagers have to go to school, and that means getting up somewhere between 6 and 7am to get ready for the bus or to drive to school. I think what you're really asking is, how much sleep should they get? The average teenager should get between 8-9 hours sleep, and some even more. Most don't get that though which is why many are so tired.

Physical & mental: The effects on the organs of the body are extreme due to the amount of alcohol and due to the fact that they will expose their organs to alcohol from a earlier time point in their life. The mental effects are equally dangerous and life threatening. One should immediately consider treatment for alcoholism.
