You can't, he can: If he doesn't want to stop, he won't. Its a physiologic dependency on a molecule, an addiction, not a habit. Show him how much money he will be spending, and guarantee him he will try to quit and it will be costly. Also tell him girls/chicks hate kissing an ashtray.
