Cholesterol: You generally want to avoid red meat and any organ meat ie liver pancreas etc reduce egg intake (egg whites ok) . Avoid high fat milk products stick to low fat cheese etc. Fiber help a little to raise good cholesterol along with 2- 3 oz of wine will raise HDL ( good cholesterol).

Cholesterol: It depends. Current recommendations to treat are not based on a number, there based on risk factors (obesity, diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure, and family history).

Cholesterol: Usually it depends if you have had a heart attack or other risk factors for heart disease, but the total cholesterol should be less than 220 mg/dl. However, in women a low HDL is also a risk for heart disease so that should be greater than 40 mg/dl.

Multiple factors cou: Don't smoke, lose weight ( if overweight) , healthier fat found in olive, peanut and canola oils — tend to improve hdl's anti-inflammatory abilities. Nuts, fish and other foods containing omega-3 fatty acids are other good choices for improving your LDL cholesterol to HDL cholesterol ratio. Alcohol only in moderation. Meds if needed- niacin, statins, fibrates. Walnuts, oatmeal, oats.Omega-3 fatty.

2 options: Jerusalem artichokes and dandelion root tea contain inulin. They help to increase good (HDL) cholesterol & to lower total cholesterol levels.
