Nasal steroid sprays: The most effective treatment for allergic rhinitis is topical nasal steroid sprays such as qnasl, Flonase or nasonex (mometasone). Antihistamines can help, but only block "histamine" while steroid nasal sprays decrease all symptoms of allergic rhinitis. They are prescription and one is approved down to age 2 years old.
