Switch To Mania: Any of the commonly used antidepressants across all families including tricyclic, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitors, and other novel antidepressant types can induce mania in previously undiagnosed bipolar patients. Acute signs of mania: increased energy, decreased need for sleep, delusional thinking.

Hypomania and mania: A possible serious adverse reaction to Cymbalta (duloxetine) can include symptoms of hypomania and or mania. This can mimic bipolar disorder. Your physician should be made aware of this as soon as possible so that you can be evaluated for a possibly changing you to a different treatment option.
