A member asked:

Is depression deadly even if the person has no suicidal intentions? how and does treatment help you live longer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depression: Even if you are not suicidal, the mind and the body are the same you. Why would you want to not treat depression if it can help you enjoy your life better? I don't know that there are any specific lifespan reducing effects of untreated depression, but depression is very treatable and if it improves the quality of life, whatever quantity you do have will be more satisfying.
