Hormone replacement: Can change the breast density on a mammogram by stimulating glandular tissue. The denser the mammogram, the more difficult it is to interpret and the more likely it is that a woman will be called back for additional views and/or ultrasound.

It could be.: Hormone replacement can stimulate normal breast tissue and lead to changes on the mammogram. These changes are benign, but it may be difficult to tell for sure without further imaging studies and sometimes needle biopsy.
