Many variables: A lot depends on your age, the kind of tic disorder you have, and what triggers them. Good news is most people with tics improve with very safe medications called "alpha-2 adrenergic agonists, " that stop or remarkably decrease tics with minimum side effects. Also, most people's tics begin to fade away when they get past puberty. It all depends on the type of motor movement problem you have.

Tics: If tics are very troubling to you, there are medications that can be used to treat them. However, these medications can make you drowsy. The best thing would be to have your primary doctor refer you to a neurologist who is a movement disorder specialist.
