Yes an no: Dextromethorphan (component in delsym) should only be used at the appropriate dose aafter your pediatrician made sure that the child does not have pneumonia or asthma. It is for symptomatic relief and you can easily overdose a child. Do not exceed more than 1 mg per each 2.5 pounds of weight. Example: a 25 pound child should not receive more than 10 mg of dextromethorphan.
