If possible, cognitive behavior therapy with a psychotherapist is preferred so medication can be avoided. Clonazepam is good for short term treatment but it should not be used as long term therapy because of the addicted effect. Buspirone is well known as an effective anxiolytic agent. Antidepressants, SSRIs or SNRIs, such as sertraline, venlafaxine, etc. can also be used for anxiety disorder.
