A member asked:

Hi what does a calprotectin level of 123 mean, occasionaly passing mucus once this was bright yellow after diarrhea?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

We use a fecal calprotectin level over 200 to suspect inflammatory bowel disease or some bacterial infections. Mucus in stools isn't a serious issue unless it's passed in copious amounts along with bowel symptoms. A gastroenterologist can best address any further concerns about ongoing bowel issues.
