A member asked:

Hi, i would like to ask about dental extraction stitches. if it is possible to remove stitches after 3/4 days, because of pressure, and if it possible that gum can heal better without pressure from stitches. thanks for your answer?

The sutures are placed to keep food and debris from entering the wound site and causing an infection. Also to control bleeding and connecting tissue to promote healing. No stitches placed delays healing and allows area to be contaminated.

The pressure is from swelling, not the stitches. Your treating Dentist or Oral Surgeon is in charge of your post-surgical care. Removing stitches prematurely could create significant problems. Make an appointment to be reevaluated..
