A member asked:

Is fish oil or fish oil supplement dangerous to take. or can it be taken without any special precaution other than take the correct dose on the bottle?

Most supplements are not studied by the FDA. I recommend only purified liquid omega 3 fish oils to rule out possible contaminants. In addition I don't recommend taking more than 1000mgs per day to lower the risk of developing atrial fibrillation. I advocate taking this type of omega 3 fish oil daily for cardiovascular health, lowering serum triglycerides& raising serum HDL,&anti-inflammatory effect

It is not dangerous to take but it can cause abdominal bloating and fishy breath smell. Furthermore, the benefits of OTC fish oil supplement is still controversial. Take care.
