A member asked:

Hello, what is the growth rate of hiatal hernias? do they grow fast, or slow over many years? i cannot find anything on their growth rate. thank you?

Hiatal hernias are just there and may not even get bigger. They are essentially a portion of the stomach that has moved to the upper side of the diaphragm when the stomach should always be on the lower side of the the diaphragm. Obesity can cause them to increase in size due to the stomach being pushed higher. So what is important is not to be overweight, eat small meals, and not to eat late.

hiatal hernias have no growth rate Thats why you cant find it anywhere. The size and change depends on many factors. It is best to ask your doc re medical questions the try to find it on the net etc to avoid wrong info and worries. good luck
