My doctor said that i might have multiple schlerosis. they did an mri and said i don't have lesions. should they do a spinal tap?

MS spinal tap: Small percentage of patients with ms do not have lesions of brain or spine detected by mri.Sometimes the power of the magnet (1 vs 3 tesla) limits detection.Some lesions not detected.If clinical suspicion is strong for ms, spinal tap may be indicated. Tap shows increased protein in form of immunoglobulins (antibodies) and breakdown products of myelin.5-10% of ms pts.Have negative spinal fluid.
