History of stomach issues/GERD with known sensitivity to steroids, concomitant use of non steroidal anti inflammatories, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for example. It has to do also with duration and dose of steroids as for short relatively low doses steroids tapers, PPI’s are not be needed. PPI’s are otherwise not recommended for routine use in patients being prescribed steroids.
