FOBT is an in office test that looks for the heme component of blood, to identify bleeding anywhere in the GI tract, including the stomach. Some foods and meds can cause false positives. FIT is a send-out test using antibodies to detect only human hemoglobin specifically from the lower GI tract (intestines/colon), excluding the stomach/esophagus.
