scratching can lessen the skin protective function, and if there are open skin areas, it can increase the risk of infection, including sexually transmitted infections especially if unprotected sexual intercourse. If there is still itching, ask your provider and with a history and examination and maybe some lab tests, a treatment plan for the itch can help keep your skin and immune system healthy.
