White matter lesions over 3mm in the brain may be from a stroke or from small vessel disease which is a marker for future strokes. Because you have white matter change,I recommend getting checked for predisposing factors like hypertension, hyperlipidemia, prediabetes or actual diabetes. I assume you don't smoke.
