It depends what you mean exactly. Your tongue is attached t various areas in your mouth and throat and so it is not able to freely get into your throat. If your tongue swells, it can block off your airway but that does take a significant amount of swelling to occur. If you are unconscious and are unable to protect your airway, your tongue can impede airflow. Normally, these things don’t occur.
