If my newborn is infected with toxoplasmosis after birth (not congenital) would they need additional treatment or would their immune system be able to fight it off on its own? im a gardener and see cat poo a lot - worried ill expose my baby somehow?

Postnatal exposure to a toxoplasma rarely leads to progressive infection as seen in fetus in immunocompetent infants and children.

Additional treatment is indicated if there is an infection. Babies develop their immunity during the first few years of life. Request a Toxoplasmosis titer, if there is a concern Most likely everything will be fine. Wash hands before caring for the baby. Keep cat litter away from younger children.
