Angioplasty with stent is a vascular interventional procedure which can be done by a cardiologist or a vascular surgeon with transvascular approach (via arterial puncture). Carotid endarterectomy is a surgical procedure which can ONLY be done by a vascular surgeon via an open skin incision. What method to choose depends on the patient's comorbidity and the carotid lesion's characteristics.

One is surgery where the strip out the rust and sew back up. Other places a stent in the artery to try to keep open. Discuss risks and benefits with your team in folks like you they have done,
